George Weldon Jefferson, 89, of Collinsville, Oklahoma, returned to his creator on May 20th, 2026, in Owasso, Oklahoma.

George was born on October 26th, 1936, to Irene Belle Messic (Wilson) Jefferson at the family home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was raised by Irene and Bruno Wilson, spending his childhood in Oklahoma City and later Moore.

Not long into his adulthood, he met and fell in love with Wanda (née Kilgore), marrying her on April 19th, 1963. They spent 63 years as a couple, enjoying their numerous hobbies together. In his working life, he found success in many different vocations, including professional bowling and truck driving, but devoted the largest portion of his employment to electrical contracting, at which he excelled. From an early age until after his retirement in the 1990s, he was an avid sportsman, enjoying golf, bowling, fishing, water skiing, and other sports, including a scholarship-winning high school football career.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his sisters, Wanda Osborne and Glenda Sanchez; and his brothers, Willard and Manuel Rath.

George is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Hope, and her husband Steve St. John, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and his grandchildren, Milena Hernandez, and Gavin DeMoss.

He will be remembered by those who knew him as a sturdy and reliable man, as well as a gentle and affable friend and neighbor.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM through 8:00 PM on Monday, June 1st at Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home in Collinsville, Oklahoma, with family present from 4:00 PM through 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026, also at Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home. A private burial will follow the funeral service at Darwin Cemetery near Antlers, Oklahoma.
