George Gerald (Jerry) Hoffman was born on July 6, 1931, In Collinsville, OK to Oowala Pauline Robertson Hoffman and George Anthony Hoffman, who both precede him. He was converted in the old United Pentecostal Church in Collinsville. He attended Collinsville Schools for 12 years, graduating in May, 1949. He immediately enrolled in Draughon’s Business College in Tulsa, graduating with a complete bookkeeping degree in May, 1950. He worked for Davis Chevron Company as a bookkeeper and at the Rural Electric Cooperative in Collinsville as a billing clerk before entering the U.S. Army in July, 1952, for 2 years. He served 2 years at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo, during the Korean war. He entered Northeastern State University at Tahlequah in August, 1956, and graduated in January, 1960. He then returned to Fort Leonard Wood, Mo and taught 2 and 1/2 years in the elementary schools. He returned to Oklahoma and began teaching in the Copan schools in August, 1962, and taught there for the next 24 years, retiring in May 1986.
He is survived by one sister, Carol Sue Hoffman Provance and her husband Robert of Collinsville and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and an uncle on his father’s side, Frank Hoffman of Collinsville.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Sharon Kay Rhoten and Shirley Ann Roller.
He departed life on January 26, 2015 for a last best place.
