Freddie Raymond Boyd, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 in Tulsa at the age of 79. Freddie was born on November 8, 1942 in Vinita, OK to James Harold Boyd and the former Ruth Vivian Plumer. He served his country for a few years in the Army. He then returned to Oklahoma where he remained until his passing. He received his bachelor’s degree at NSU and was a teacher at Edison in Tulsa until his retirement. Freddie was an avid musician for over 40 years. His greatest joy came from being part of a musical family. He played in multiple bands over the years. Besides being a musician, Freddie was also an artist who painted landscapes. He had a love for traveling and camping and enjoyed being outdoors. He will be missed by many.
Freddie is survived by his sons, Halbert Boyd and wife Sarah and Eric Boyd and wife Rachelle; his sister Harolene Fryer; his brothers, Bob Boyd and Ed Boyd and wife Marquita; 12 grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends. Freddie was preceded in death by his parents James and Ruth Boyd, his wife Kenita Ann Boyd, and 2 brothers, Dan Boyd and Jim Boyd and wife Charlotte.
Visitation will be Monday, January 17, 2022, from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joey Zodrow officiating. Interment will follow at Wann Cemetery near Oologah.
