Francis Rosetta Thompson

July 13, 1913 — December 11, 2009

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great- Grandmother, and Great- Great- Grandmother, Francis Thompson, has passed on before us on December 11, 2009 at the age of 96 years 4 months and 28 days to continue on with her walk with the Lord. She was born in Chanute, Kansas on July 13, 1913 to Giovanni and Carrie Imperial. Giovanni passed on when Francis was a baby and Carrie remarried Bert Garrett who was a father to Francis.
She married Robert C. Thompson on February 7, 1935. They came to Collinsville, Oklahoma and made their home here. She was a homemaker until World War II when she went to work at McDonald Douglas as Rosie the Riveter. After the war was over she returned to her previous job of homemaker. She loved to garden. If you came to her house she was outside moving something around or planting new flowers. Except on days when she went shopping with her daughter. When her daughter Delores lost KO she was a mother to her grandchildren. She raised them just like her own. She also played a big part in raising her great and Great- great grandchildren. It is difficult to sum up a person’s life, especially when there were 96 years. Francis Thompson was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and great-great- grandmother to her children. She will forever be missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Carl Thompson, Brothers Claude, Raymond, Ralph and George Garrett. She is survived by her Sister Lorene Ridenhour, her brothers wives: JoAnn, Dora and Harriett Garrett, Daughter Delores Husband, Grandson Robert and wife Shirley Husband, Granddaughter Debbie and husband Kelvin Gordon, Great- Grandsons Robert, Joseph, and David Husband, Kelvin and wife Traci Gordon and Matthew Gordon, Great- Great- Granddaughters Chasidy and Lexi Gordon and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Her death impacted everyone she knew. Matthew Gordon wrote this about his “Momo” (mamaw) the day she passed from us, “The strongest lady I will ever know left the world today, after 96 years and 5 generations she got to go home, her love will be in our hearts and spirit around us as long as we are here, I’m glad I got to be around her for 25 years myself. Love you always Francis Thompson (Mamaw)”

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home Chapel with interment following at the Ridgelawn Cemetery.
