Floyd Clinton Sossamon

Floyd Clinton Sossamon, 83, of Collinsville, OK passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2009 in Bartlesville. Floyd was born on July 27, 1926 in Ozark, AR to William and Ollie (Powell) Sossamon. He served in the Army during WWII. Floyd met and married Ruth Ann Clemons and together they raised two children. He has lived in the Collinsville area since 1969 having moved from Sallisaw. He was a member of the Kiwanis in Collinsville for many years. Until his retirement, Floyd worked at Howard Chevrolet in Owasso as a Salesman. Some of his hobbies included woodworking, stamp collecting, raising strawberries, genealogy, and his massive coin collection. He was a great man, and will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Floyd is survived by his wife Ruth Ann Sossamon of the home; their children, Sharon Holloway and her fiancé Charles E. Malone of Bartlesville and F. Steven Sossamon and his wife Maryann of Toluca Lake, CA; and one granddaughter Erin Kate Sossamon of Toluca Lake, CA; and a host of family and friends. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and four brothers.

Visitation for Floyd will be Friday, December 4, 2009 at Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 5, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville.
