Evelyn Mae Fields

Today, we gather to honor the life and legacy of Evelyn Mae Simmons Fields. Born on April 27th, 1927, in Jenks, Oklahoma, Evelyn was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

Visitation will be 1:30 pm to 6:00 pm, Sunday, March 24, 2024, at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Monday, March 25, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Collinsville with Dr. Tim Prock officiating. Interment will be 12:30 pm, Monday, March 25, 2024, at the Bixby Cemetery in Bixby, OK.

Evelyn was the product of love between Arthur and Ethel Simmons, growing up as one of ten children On January 17th, 1948, she embarked on a beautiful journey of love and partnership with Percy L. Fields, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories and two wonderful children, Judy Mae Lang and James R. Fields.

Evelyn is survived by two children, Judy Mae Lang & Husband Billy Lang of Wagoner, OK. James R. Fields & Wife Debbie Fields, Owasso, OK. Grandchildren: Carmen & Clyde Roper, Owasso, OK. Scott & Athena Lang, Lawrence, KS.  Jeremy & Lindsey Fields, Collinsville, OK.  Natalie Hubbard Owasso, OK. 10 Great-grandchildren: 10 Great-great-grandchildren.  Preceded in death by her husband, Percy L. Fields as well as three children:  Gearld, Daniel, & Peggy.

Her devotion to family was unmatched. Despite facing the hardships of the Great Depression, Evelyn's nurturing spirit shone bright as she helped raise her siblings and cared for other families' children as a nanny. She dedicated herself to various roles, from waitress to nurse's aide, and later found fulfillment as a homemaker and loving wife.

Evelyn's generosity knew no bounds. She welcomed all into her home with open arms, creating a haven of warmth and love. Her talents for home cooked meals were unmatched, with her canned goods, garden-fresh produce, and delicious meals bringing joy to countless gatherings. She also shared her passion for quilting, leaving behind tangible tokens of her love and creativity.

Her impact extended beyond her family and home. Evelyn's work as a cook and lunch lady at Mingo School, coupled with her role as a janitor, showcased her strong work ethic and commitment to serving others. She was a pillar of strength, embodying resilience, kindness, and compassion.

Today, as we bid farewell to Evelyn Mae Fields, we celebrate a life well-lived. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. May her legacy of love and kindness continue to inspire us all Rest in peace, dear Evelyn. You will be deeply missed.
