Ernie Dean Tackett

August 16, 1951 — March 6, 2021

Ernie Dean Tackett was born August 16, 1951 in Tulsa, Ok, to John Henry and Vivian La June (Miller) Tackett. He passed away peacefully March 6, 2021 in Collinsville, OK.

Dean was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam era. After honorable discharge, Dean remained a strong advocate of the U.S. Navy and Veterans in general. Dean was a member of the Cherokee Indian Nation. Cherokee Press owner/publisher, Dean authored and published books covering traditional native cuisine, including “Cherokee Recipes, Cooking Tips & Lore”.  Dean attended Daniel Webster High School and Langston University earning a degree in psychology.  Dean was a Behavioral Health Case Manager for Bryce House of 12&12 Inc.; greatest passion was helping others through his experience, strength and hope.

He is survived by his sister, Linda Eshelman of Tulsa, nephews, Henry Tackett and wife Alisa of Houston, TX. Nathan Tackett and Tiffany of Tulsa, OK, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Vivan Tackett; father, John Henry Tackett; stepfather, Horce Allen; brothers Dewayne and John Tackett; sister, Debbie Tackett.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Dean’s memory be made to 12&12 Inc., Tulsa, OK, or in support of American Veterans.

Arrangements are provided by Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home, the service will be a private family gathering at the site of interment in Sperry, OK at Rest Haven Cemetery, Veterans section.
