Erma McCollam, 75, of Collinsville died January 6, 2008. Erma was wife of F. Larry “Mac” McCollam, deceased, longtime car dealer in the Turley, Sperry, and Skiatook area. Born of Charlie and Virginia Bloom, in Garnett, KS on January 11, 1932, Erma married Mac in 1952 before he deployed to Japan during the Korean War. After his military service, Mac and Erma made their home in North Tulsa and then Turley. “Mac” or Larry was a mechanic for American Airlines and Erma was a homemaker until 1962 when they opened “Mac’s Motor Co.” in Turley, which they operated for 24 years. Erma loved gardening, animals, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a president of the Women’s VFW Auxiliary in Turley, active in Boy and Girl Scouts, and a full partner in the family business. They were avid RV'ers and also bought and sold real estate. Mac and Erma retired in 1986, moving to rural Skiatook and then Collinsville in 1997, where she joined the Collinsville Church of the Nazarene.
Erma passed peacefully at home Sunday with her family at her side. She was preceded in death her husband, Mac in 2001, her parents, and one sister. She is survived by a sister, Mary Hosier of Garnett, KS; a brother, David Bloom of Troy, IL; son Michael McCollam and his wife Donna of Tulsa; 3 daughters, Patricia Oglesby and husband Kenneth of Skiatook, Karen Duncan of Collinsville, and Margaret Sturm and husband Rocky of Tulsa; 12 grandchildren; numerous family and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2008 from 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be at the Church of the Nazarene in Collinsville, Wednesday January 9, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
