Edith Fay Ward

October 8, 1929 — October 25, 2013

Edith Fay (Horner) Ward was born to Iva and Alpha (Leonard) Horner on October 8, 1929 in Tiawah, OK.
She began her journey with the Lord on October 25, 2013 at 4:20 p.m. at the home of her son and
daughter-in-law Mike and Priscilla. Edith had three siblings, LeRoy, Buck and Maxine. Edith and Maxine
were best friends always. Edith graduated from high school in Claremore, OK. on May 24, 1946. Turning right around marrying the love of her life, Owen Riley Ward in Independence, KS. on June 12, 1946.

Edith was a women full of life and love. She enjoyed laughing and spending her time taking care of,
loving, and helping those she loved and some she didn't know. She was a excellent water skier able to ski on a single ski not only gloating about it but we're sure rubbing it in to her husband. She enjoyed riding motorcycles and driving fast, as well as camping.

She really began her life's work becoming a mother on Feb. 16th, 1950 to her oldest son Johnnie Owen Ward, followed seven years later May 22, 1957 delivering her last biological son Michael LeRoy Ward, and in November 23, 1973 becoming not only a Grandma but a Moma to Zachary Shawn Ward, raising him as her own all of her life. Edith adored her boys and the numerous grandchildren that were born through their unions. The one daily thing she came to love was "Watching Her World Turn". She wasn't going to miss her story for anything. Edith opened her home to help anyone in need of a meal, a wash, or a place to stay, no questions asked, no judgment made. Always either raising or having a hand in raising, not only her own children but also her grandchildren and great-grandchildren either biological or step. She was called by many names. She has been Edith, Edith Fay, Hun, Mom, Grandma, and Grandma Edith. She most of all loved spending the holidays together cooking for her loved ones. It was one thing she was always doing, feeding us. She enjoyed going to the casino, vacationing, and riding on the pontoon with Mike and Priscilla or just simply enjoying spending time sitting out back visiting. She is one of the greatest women we think ever born to this earth. And she will be missed very much.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the Oologah Assembly of God Church with Rev. Kent Jensen officiating. Interment will follow at the Oakhill Cemetery in Oologah. Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
