Dortha Burnice Dubois-Atwell

Dortha Burnice DuBois born November 10, 1924 in Raven Den Springs, AR to Benjamin L and Ethel M DuBois. She married Melvin G Atwell on January 29, 1944. She is survived by her three children: Brenda (Larry) Stephens, Collinsville, OK, Dewayne (Laura) Atwell, Oklahoma City, OK and Wyman (Kim) Atwell, Rogers, AR.

Seven grandchildren: David (Allison) Stephens, Jenks, OK, Michael (Holly) Stephens, Collinsville, OK, Clint Atwell, Sugarland, TX, Jordan Atwell, Winterpark, CO, Brooke (Travis) Kern, Chicago, IL, Taylor Atwell, Rogers, AR, Brandon Fields, Oklahoma City, OK.

Four great-grandchildren: Andrew Stephens, Jenks, OK, Kaitlyn Stephens, Jenks, OK, Matthew Stephens, Jenks, OK, Cody Stephens, Collinsville, OK.

Two brothers: Homer (Jane) DuBois, Porter, TX, Ben DuBois, Piedmont, MO. Two sister-in-laws: Earlene Atwell, Poplar Bluff, MO, Wilma Atwell, Yukon, OK and a host of Nieces and Nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin G. Atwell, 1 granddaughter: Ashley Atwell and 1 Great-grandson: Elijah Stephens

Dortha lived her life serving God, and serving her family and friends. She was a homemaker, skillfully providing lots of food, clothing and anything else her family needed. She always had a hug, a kiss, and encouraging words for her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. Her home was filled with her quiet spirit and her gentle smile. Dortha always served in the churches she attended. She taught the little children in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She worked with a ladies group quilting quilts for money to contribute to missions. At the time of her death, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Collinsville, OK. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her family. She truly was a Proverb 31 Woman. “Her children rise up and call her blessed.”

Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 21, 2018 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Tim Prock officiating. Interment will follow at the Ridgelawn Cemetery.
