Dona Wynell (White) Lowe was born June 5, 1933 to Jack and Vera white on a farm between Dill City and Cordell, Oklahoma. Dona joined the family of two older siblings, her sister Melba and brother Wendell. Years later younger brother Joe Wade was born.
Dona met the love of her life when they were both attending Oklahoma A & M College (OSU). Dona and Melvin were married on August 23, 1952.
After marriage they moved to Camp Polk, Louisiana and in 1954 their daughter Debora Jean was born. In 1958 William Bruce Lowe was born in Nowata, Oklahoma, when Melvin was working for Benjamin Funeral Home. Their third child, Scott Melvin Lowe was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1963, when they co-owned the Guardian Funeral Home.
In 1966, Melvin and Dona moved to Collinsville after purchasing the funeral home there.
Dona took great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandson. She could tell you what activities each of them were involved in and although attendance at some of their events was challenging, it was almost always accomplished. She was to be called “Mee-Mee” by so many. She never missed an opportunity to tell you how wonderful her grandkids were and showed them how much she loved them every chance she got.
Dona was a faithful member of the Church of Christ where she taught Children’s Bible Class, oversaw teacher resources, participated in Ladies Bible Class and was a great example of a Christian wife, Mother and Mee-Mee.
Dona and Melvin had a strong love and respect for each other. Through 68 years of marriage, Melvin continued to demonstrate his love for Dona through his commitment to caring for her during her illness. Through the years, their love for each other and faith in God set an example of a strong marriage, and was a role model to many around them.
Dona is survived by her husband, Melvin of the home, daughter, Debbie Batey and her husband Jerry of Glenpool, Ok., son, Bruce Lowe and wife Linda of Jacksonville, FL, and son, Scott Lowe and wife Donita of Collinsville, OK.
