W.C. and Dee were inseparable and started their loving relationship while they were in high school. They spent every day together for nearly 50 years enjoying life on the farm and keeping up with Jason from High school to college to grad school to living in Florida. Now they are reunited in Heaven!!!
She was absolutely obsessed with her grandkids, Kali and Chase. She needed to be at all of their events to cheer them on and of course spoil them. She made sure that if there was anything they ever needed, she got that need taken care of ASAP. She loved spending time with them and loving on them when they were little and as they got older she would always make sure they had "cash" to survive on... LOL.
She certainly loved her daughter-in-law, Kristin. They would talk daily, sometimes once a day, sometimes 10 times a day, but they always stayed in contact and caught up with each other's schedules. They would go shopping together, to doctor's appointments, lunch dates and all of the other fun stuff.
Denise loved her son Jason, who was her only child and words can't describe the love she had for him. They spent so much time together on the farm doing chores and taking care of all the animals when he was younger then later going to football, wrestling, baseball and track events. Then as he became an adult, she continually encouraged him to continue to be the best at anything and everything he did.
She is also survived by her brother, Carl Shank, and her sister, Diane McPeters.
She also loved all of her animals. At some point and time in her life she has probably owned at least one of every type of animal known to mankind. Her father owned and operated a dairy farm for years and years. This is where her love for animals and cattle came from, particularly Holstein cattle, the greatest milk producing breed in North America.
Other than that, she loved to be there to help anybody that needed anything, whether it was simply listening to them, providing advice, some cash if necessary or even a place to stay. She was such a warm soul that was always there for anybody with a need.
Denise was a remarkable barrel racer as a young high schooler and a little later into her 20's. She won multiple events in barrel racing and running poles and loved the rodeo scene.
She was a great journalist for a long time for the Collinsville News Herald. She spent a lot of years raising and breeding German Shepherds, that were just amazing.
She was definitely a BINGO queen for a good part of her later years, (50's and 60's).
Overall, she was the greatest mother and grandmother anybody could ever ask for. The unconditional love, the continual support and encouragement and if there was ever a need her family had that need only existed until she found out about it, then "momma" fixed it.
