David Earl Pavey, of Collinsville, OK, passed away on January 28, 2014.
He was born on September 29, 1949 in Skiatook, OK, to Earl L. Pavey and Velvin Juanita (Swift) Pavey. Dave attended Collinsville High School, received both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in English from Northeastern University in Tahlequah, OK, and went on to complete a second Master's degree Counseling at Adams State College in Alamosa, CO. He was a well-loved member of the faculty at Lamar High School in Lamar, CO for more than thirty years, teaching English and journalism, and counseling students. He was also an instructor at Lamar Community College and, later, at Tulsa Community College, teaching courses in speech, English composition, and psychology.
He is survived by his siblings Denise Upky, Darla Higginbotham, Danny Pavey, and Doug Pavey, all of Collinsville; his son Jacob Pavey of Colorado Springs, CO; and his daughter Hilary May of Greeley, CO.
Visitation will be from 1:30-6:00pm on Sunday, February 2, 1014 at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 10:00am on Monday, February 3, 2014 at Free Will Baptist Church in Collinsville, OK with Rev. Hermon Wood officiating. Interment will follow at the Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville. Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
