Claude Raymond Smith, Jr.

Claude Raymond Smith, Jr., passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, in Collinsville, Oklahoma at the age of 84. Born on July 5, 1942, in Tupelo, Mississippi, Claude lived a life rooted in family, hard work, and the rhythms of the land. He was a member of the Trinity Holiness (AOG) Church.

Claude was the cherished husband of Bonnie Smith, and together they built a close and loving family. He is survived by his sons Mike Smith, Raymond Smith, John Smith and wife Leona, Jason Smith, and Dennis Smith and wife Rachela, and his daughters Dawna Wright and husband Tim, Penny Smith, Diana Trowbridge and husband Punky, as well as his step-daughters Helen Cerretti and Debbie Davis. Claude’s family tree extends further to beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends who now mourn his loss and celebrate his memory. He is also survived by his brother Anthony Smith and sisters Kay Faulkner, Rose Cockrell, and Phyllis Forrester—a testament to the enduring connections of siblingship and family.

Claude was preceded in death by his father, Claude Smith, Sr., and his mother, Wilma (Dunnaway) Smith, 2 brothers and 3 sisters, whose memories were cherished by him throughout his life.

Those who knew Claude will remember him best as a hardworking farmer, dedicated to stewarding the land and providing for those he loved. The value he placed on diligence, perseverance, and the cycles of nature defined not only his career but were also the principles by which he lived. Away from the demands of the farm, Claude found joy in fishing and gardening—pursuits that reflected his deep appreciation for the outdoors and the quiet rewards of patience and care.

Claude Raymond Smith, Jr. will be dearly missed and forever remembered by those who survive him. While his passing leaves an empty place in the hearts of many, his life continues to inspire through the countless memories he created and the values he imparted.
