Charlie and Jackie began their life in Boise Idaho where he worked different construction jobs, finally moving back and securing his families roots in Collinsville. Charlie began working for CRC Evans Pipeline, retiring after 40 years, of dedicated service. Charlie was a proud member of Cherokee Nation and 1 st Baptist Church of Collinsville. Charlie served 6 years in the Air National Guard of Oklahoma and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Collinsville and American Legion of Skiatook.
Charlie was quite smitten with a beautiful Iowa girl, and on March 20 th 1962, Married the love of his life, Mary Jacklyn “Jackie” Larrimore, in Iowa City, Iowa. From this union they were blessed with 3 beautiful daughters. Each of the daughters grew up and graduated from Collinsville high school, just like their father.
Charlie had a deep and passionate love for our Lord, reading the Bible daily and praying with earnest for his family and friends, for their health and safe keeping. Charlie would lead family gatherings with prayer, and spoke to the Lord with vigor and eloquence. Charlie had a sense of humor and loved to laugh. Charlie possessed an amazing gift of gab and could captivate an audience with his detailed and meticulous story telling. Charlie would tell stories about fishing, hunting, camping and his life as a boy in the Oklahoma hills. Charlie was animated in his story telling, spreading his arms wide in describing events and with an unmistakable “Charlie Taile” whistle when he would strike an “S.” Charlie’s gift of gab would lead you down a path that would make you feel like you were there, and experiencing it right along with him. He never knew a stranger, loving everyone he met, without a doubt feeling their love for him, in return.
Charlie enjoyed poking fun at himself, and at Jackie. Often times, Jackie was the brunt of his jokes, his nickname for her was “Sorry” he would tell her “it’s time to get her Sorry Ass up and get busy, DEAR” Jackie always knew he was joking… He would hide in the house, sneak up and scare the tar out of her, but the hugs and love they shared was like none other. He would always leave little notes around the house, and at the end would simply write, “I have the greatest family”
Charlie and Jackie enjoyed taking scenic drives for hours on end together, looking at landscape, hoping to see deer and BIG FOOT. Charlie loved Spring Creek, Pow-Wows, cookouts, Casino visits, Duct Tape, Fry Bread, fishing, hunting, playing LCR, camping, Indian Tacos, Meat Pie, Day Trips to the Indian Museum and his old birthplace. Visiting Pawhuska for the making of the movie, “Killers of the Flower Moon.” Charlie LOVED sports! Following the Cleveland Browns, OU Football, Dallas Cowboys, the Collinsville Cardinals and watching his grandson Jacob doing every sport imaginable. Most recently he enjoyed watching his great-grandsons Kaden and Koda as they carry on playing football like their great Poppy did. Charlie especially loved gathering his family together, sharing time with the “greatest family.” The “Greatest Family” indeed a testament of his greatest pride and passion… his FAMILY!
