Charles Edward Jones, Sr.

Charles Edward Jones Sr., was born to Faye D. Jetton Moore on August 7, 1942 in Texarkana, Texas.

At the age of 6, he was brought to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he attended St. Monica Catholic School. From there he went to Carver Junior High School when he met the love of his life, Patricia Ann Lowe. He went on to become one of the first Black Americans to graduate from Central High School in 1960.

He joined the Marine Corps upon graduation from high school. There he served in the Vietnam War and completed 20 years of service to his country, retiring as a Gunnery SGT. After retirement he served 26 years in civil service.

In 1961, he married his childhood sweetheart, Patricia, and they enjoyed 56 beautiful years of marriage. He came to know the Lord in 1979 and was called to ministry. With his wife by his side, they graduated Cathedral of the Valley Bible College of Escondido, California in 1991. That same year, in Oceanside, California he pioneered New Creation Christian Center where he pastored 15years before moving to Oklahoma.

Soon after moving to Oklahoma, he found a new passion for fishing in his ponds, raising his flock of ducks, and bonding with his little chiweenie, “Lil’ Bit”.

He was preceded in death by his baby daughter, Chaun Elise Jones. He is survived by his wife Patricia Ann Jones, 3 natural children Charles Edward Jones, Jr., Kevin Everette Jones, Karen Evette Jones-Unger. He adopted 2 of his grandchildren Chad Edwardo Jones and Chaunoi Airren Jones-Tufillaro. He had 7 other grandchildren, Charles Jones III, Christina Jones, Christopher Jones, James Unger, Kayla Unger, Kayleb Unger & Savannah Jones Delgado. He has 5 great grandchildren, a host of cousins, family members and friends.

Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Alvin Fruga officiating.

Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
