Casey Leon Ulrey, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, was born on March 3, 1981, in Claremore, Oklahoma. Tragically, he passed away unexpectedly on March 3, 2026, in Nowata, Oklahoma, marking a bittersweet end to a life filled with passion and dedication.
A proud third-generation rancher, Casey carried forward the legacy of his family with pride and joy. His heart truly belonged to his beloved Beefmaster cattle. He found immense purpose in mentoring his nephews, Colt, Cordell, and Cooper, sharing in the joy of showing animals, roping, and instilling the values of hard work and perseverance in them. Casey’s great passion for team roping led him to win many awards, including buckles, saddles and trailers. His love for ranching was not just a profession; it was a way of life that allowed him to connect with others, particularly the many children he guided in livestock showing.
Casey's warm spirit will be deeply missed by his immediate family: his mother, Brenda Ulrey; his brother, Dusty Ulrey, and wife, Genny; and his cherished nephews, Colt, Cordell and his wife Lilly, and Cooper Ulrey, who were all lucky to know his love and support. He also leaves behind his uncle Ronald and wife Yvonne Buster of Choctaw, his aunt Kathy and husband Buford Hinds of Foyil, a host of cousins and special friends who will remember him fondly.
He is preceded in death by his father, Gary Ulrey, and his loving maternal and paternal grandparents, Noel and Dorothy Buster of Oologah and Willard and Mary Ulrey of Claremore. He also joins his uncle, Larry Buster of Talala, in eternal rest.
While Casey's passing leaves a profound void, we celebrate the rich tapestry of his life—a life filled with love, laughter, and a steadfast commitment to his family's ranching legacy. May his spirit continue to inspire all who knew him.
