Bobbie Jean Henry (Stanphill) was 89 years young. She was born May 9, 1934 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Sam and Rosie Mae Stanphill. Bobbie was one of nine children with four sisters and four brothers. At the age of 16, she married Sidney Brice Henry. Over their 73-year marriage, Sidney and Bobbie had five wonderful children and built their life in Collinsville, Oklahoma and Rogers, Arkansas.
Bobbie was an amazing quilter and loved to crochet. She reminded her family and friends she sewed her love with every hand stitch. Bobbie loved to dance with Sidney and they were known for their performance of the jitterbug. If she wasn’t dancing or stitching, Bobbie was traveling across the states with her bowling team, to include her sister Willie, her daughter Lisa, and several close friends (Hazel, Mavis, Georgia, and Betty).
Retired from Daisy Manufacturing, Bobbie worked the production line and assembled every Daisy product. When the time was right, her grandchildren always received their first Daisy BB gun. And if a Daisy BB gun wasn’t your style, she would be sure to have a Holiday Barbie on deck.
Bobbie was known as “Mom Henry” in the 70s and was truly a mother to all. Over her years, she loved watching her children grow and never missed a holiday for her family to gather. Known for her pecan pie and tins of fudge and chocolates, there was always something good to eat at Nanny’s house.
Whether it was as simple as an orthodontist visit or a long, summer camp site at Beaver Dam listening to her children and husband sing and play the guitar, her family was her passion. Later in life, Bobbie would watch her great grandson Brycen and remind anyone that “he was her angel baby.”
Bobbie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sidney Henry; both parents, Sam and Rosie May Stanphill; and her sisters Nora, Martha, Mary Lou, Willie and brothers, Cecil, Tommy, Waymon and Delbert.
She is survived by her children: Terry Henry, daughter-in-law Snookie; Lindel Henry; Mike Henry, daughter-in-law Denise; Randy Henry; and Lisa Norton, son-in-law Lee Wayne. Nine grandchildren to include: Dustin Henry; Wesley and Kari (spouse) Weaver; Waylon and Tocarra (spouse) Weaver; Samantha Henry; Chris (spouse) and Jessie Harper; Jake and Marti (spouse) Henry; Shanon and Becky (spouse) Mayfield; Bobby and April (spouse) Norton; and Shawn (spouse) and Sydne Austin. Nanny has 23 great grandchildren who she loved with all her heart and numerous additional family and friends.
