Bill Earl Owens

Bill Earl Owens passed away August 28th, 2014, at the age of 73. He was born October 4th, 1940, in Vera, Oklahoma to Ira Isaac Owens and the former Mary Ellen Bernice Clifton. He was a machinist, small business owner, and an accomplished musician.

Bill attended Vera High School where he was president of his class in his junior and senior years and graduated in 1958 as valedictorian. Bill took part in other activities including basketball, glee club, and drama club in which he played the leading role in three of his high school plays.

Bill began a career in machining at Telex in 1967 and later went on to open his own machine shop, Janko, which he named for his two children. In his spare time, he pursued his passion for music, playing bass guitar in bands that included many family members and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Fredrick-Owens; his son, Ronald Kevin Owens, and wife, Ragna Sigrunardottir (Seattle, WA); his daughter, Jana Lynnette Owens (Austin, TX); one granddaughter, Katla Mathilde Owens (Seattle, WA); and two brothers: Leo D. Owens and wife, Ann (Vera, OK); and Paul L. Owens (Vera, OK). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is Monday, September 1st, between the hours of 9:00 am and 8:00 pm at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at Vera Full Gospel Church on Tuesday, September 2nd, at 10:00 am with Rev. Randy Bettis and Rev. Jim Rowe officiating. Interment will follow at Buck Creek Cemetery, Vera, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
