Billy Bob Johnston, 74, passed away on September 18, 2024, in Talala. He was born September 20, 1949, in Nowata, OK to Leo and Joanna (Robinson) Johnston. Bill went to 1st grade through 12th grade at Oologah Talala Schools. When he graduated in 1967, he attended Oklahoma Military Academy for 2 years, before joining the United States Navy in 1969.

Bill married his high school sweetheart Joan Robinson, together they left for bootcamp. In 1973, Bill left the Navy to be a dad. Steven Glen Johnston was born July 3, 1973, and Michael Wayne Johnston was born December 12, 1976. He later married his soulmate on July 27, 1988, Betty Miesse, they were married for 37 years.

He worked at American Airlines for 22 years. After retiring from American Airlines, he went back into the HVAC business.

He is survived by his wife: Betty Johnston of the home, 2 children: Michael Johnston of Tulsa and Sarah Hale and her partner Michael Fawcett of Claremore, 2 sisters: Leojuana Hartman, and Anna Cunningham and her husband Jerry, 1 brother: Jeffery Johnston. 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, 2 bonus daughters: Stacey Kempton and Nicole Ortiz. He also survived several aunts and cousins.

He is preceded in death by 1 son: Steven Johnston.

A celebration of life will be 11:00 am, Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Oologah Senior Citizens Center.
