Barbara Lydia Munro

Barbara Lydia Munro, 68, of Talala, OK passed away in Tulsa, OK on January 7, 2016. She was born in Milford, CT to Robert Distin and the former Lillian MacGill. She had lived in Talala since 1978 having moved from Washington, DC.

Barbara was a member of the Talala Cemetery Association. She had worked as an EMT for EMSA for 10 years. She volunteered for the NW Rogers County Fire District, 1982 to 2005, and was a dispatcher for the NW Rogers County Fire District and the Rogers County Sherriff’s office. She was an EMT for MED-TEC, 2000 to 2005. She also had worked for Wal-Mart from 1974 to 1988 and 2008 to 2011.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Munro of the home. 3 Children: Gaila Hampsten and her husband Dale of Guymon, OK., John Bortner and his wife Shawndra of Talala and Diane Clinton and her husband Eric of Talala. 3 siblings: Linda Yancey of North Carolina, Robert Distin, Jr., of Virginia and Ginny Dixon of Maryland. She is also survived by 7 Grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Talala, OK.
