Angela Rae Newton, 44, of Oologah, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2010. Angela was born March 5, 1966 in Nevada, MO to Charles and Gloria (Bray) Newton. She moved from Fort Scott, KS and has lived in the Oologah area for the last 32 years. Angela worked as an employment coordinator for the Sertoma Handicap Opportunity Program in Tulsa. She loved her job and the people she helped take care of. Her caring nature was also seen through the love she showed her family and pets. Angela was a second mother to her nieces and nephews. She was a proud member of the Ojibway Nation. Angela spent her free time doing crafts or enjoying music. She was a fabulous cook and a top ballerina. She had a wonderful wit about her which will be missed greatly by her family.
Angela is survived by her mother, Gloria Newton of the home; four sisters, Julie Fowler and husband Mike of Lavaca, AR, Barbara Bowen and husband Bill of Springfield, MO, Debra Cagle and husband Harold of Fort Scott, KS, Cheryl Blythe and husband Brad of Union Town, KS; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Angela was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Scott Sherwin; her father, Charles Newton; and her brother, Charles Anthony Newton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Angela’s honor to Sertoma Handicapped Opportunity Programs, Inc., 222 South Memorial Drive, Tulsa, OK 74112.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 20, 2010 at the Gloria Newton Residence in Oologah.
