Alberta Mae (Stout) Hughes, age 88, passed away peacefully in the afternoon of July 30, 2025, in Collinsville, Oklahoma. Born on October 12, 1936, in Vera, Oklahoma, Alberta lived a full life marked by love, faith, and devotion to her family and to the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Nellie Stout; her beloved husband, James Hughes; her brother, Gale Stout; and her son, Jerry “Sandy” Hughes.
Alberta is survived by her brother, Lewis Stout (Sharon); her children, Thoy Hughes, Sharon Linzy (Jack), Dolores Scott (Robert), and Ruth Corn (Jim); her grandchildren, Travis Linzy (Tara), Robbie Scott (Amy), Jimmy Hughes (Tonya), Shari Holdman, Johnny Hughes (Katie), Angela Kellogg (Jeremy), Melissa Corn, Stacey Kemp (Joe), and Kayla Clower; 18 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family members.
A dedicated and hard-working woman, Alberta retired from Magnetic Switches. Throughout her life she enjoyed: crocheting beautiful pieces by hand, singing hymns, cooking for her loved ones, reading her Bible, and sharing scripture with those around her. She was known to many as Bertie, Mom, Mema, Grandma and GG. Her deep Christian faith was the foundation of her life, and her generous spirit and kind heart touched everyone who knew her.
Visitation will be Noon to 8:00 pm, Monday, August 4, 2025, at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home. The family will be present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home in Collinsville. A graveside service will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville. A family gathering will be held at the First Baptist Church in Collinsville immediately following all services. All who loved Alberta are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.
Alberta’s faith was unwavering, and her favorite verse, Psalms 4:8, reflects the peace she found in her Lord:
“I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.”
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
