Jessie "Jake" Leota Morris, Jr.

Jessie Leota “Jake” Morris, Jr. of Collinsville passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the age of 83. Jake was born on September 3, 1934 in Collinsville to Jessie and Teresa (McGill) Morris, Sr. He worked as a Diesel Mechanic in Sand Springs until his retirement. He spent a lot of his spare time researching his family’s history, in which he traced his Cherokee Heritage back to the Dawes Rolls. Jake was a lifelong member of the Collinsville area and he will be missed dearly.

Jake is survived by his daughter Diann Morris-Larque and Sammy York of Norman; brother, Dan Morris of Alaska; daughter-in-law Lori Morris; step-son Elzie Hart and family; 3 grandchildren, Jason Morris, Jake Morris, and Amanda Morris; 2 Great Grandchildren, Dean and Gabriel; 3 nephews; and a host of family and friends. His parents, his son Jessie Leonard Morris, Sr., and his sister Esther Morris Derickson Sowards preceded Jake in death.
