Richard Paul Rakes of Collinsville, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012 at his home surrounded by family. He was 74. Richard was born on February 7, 1938 in Osage County to Cecil and Mildred (Kelch) Rakes. He married Shirley Thornton and together they raised 3 sons. Richard worked for the Tulsa Fire Department for 20 years until his retirement at the rank of Captain.

Richard is survived by his Wife Shirley Rakes of the home; 3 Sons, David Rakes of Independence, KS, Mike Rakes of Owasso, and Shawn Rakes of Collinsville; his Sister, Francis Head; 2 Brothers, Bill Rakes and Lonnie Rakes; 11 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

A Funeral Service for Richard was held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Maranatha Baptist Church in Collinsville with Brother Don Moseby officiating. The Tulsa Fire Department Honor Guard served as pallbearers and performed the Funeral Honors. Interment followed at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville.

Services were under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home, www.collinsvillefh.com.
